Project Purpose: Render free medical and dental care to the poor and the underprivileged under the banner of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS).

Location: Ghattahalli Village, Kolar, Karnataka, India, which is 12 kilometers from Kolar.

Affiliation:
RGUHS has a program under which they sponsor rural clinics after a careful study of the location and needs of the community. RGUHS has adopted the "Ghattahalli Village, Kolar" as the premiere healthcare project that needs support from all. KSMD is very proud to be the co-sponsor of the project under their "project adoption" scheme. This scheme extends support to projects after a very careful evaluation. KSMD is proud to be associated with RGUHS through its Vice Chancellor Dr. Shetty. The Vice Chancellor has asked Kolar Medical and Dental College to participate in the administration of the clinic. In addition, RV Dental College and Dr. Nagesh will also be involved in this project.

Project Administration:

  • A local committee consisting of Drs. Nagesh, Shetty, Guru Murthy and Jayamma will supervise the day to-day operations
  • RGUHS will oversee the clinic’s efficient operation.
  • KSMD will install a committee that will have the fiduciary responsibility of managing the financial needs of this project.

Plan of Operation:

  • Kolar Medical and Dental Colleges will provide medical, para-medical and the clerical staff as needed.
  • RGUHS and RV Dental College will oversee the quality assurance of the personnel and the services offered at the facility.
  • The clinic serves between 500 and 600 patients per weekend. By by providing daily access, the clinic could care for more patients and render better care.
  • Dental care is not currently available. This care will be provided with the adoption of this project.
